LDK Productions is proud to announce the LDK Writers’ Residency @ CAM Studios for Playwrights and Composers— a unique opportunity designed to nurture the development of new plays and musicals in their earliest stages. Each residency provides a private lock-out studio at CAM Studios for one full week, offering writers uninterrupted time and a professional environment to create, experiment, and push their work forward. This program emphasizes the value of space and focus: it is not designed for industry presentations or public readings, but rather for the quiet, essential process of exploration and writing that fuels future theatrical innovation.
Through this initiative, LDK Productions will award three residencies annually on a rolling basis, granting playwrights and composers the chance to dive deeply into their projects without the distractions or financial pressures of securing workspace. Whether beginning a first draft, refining a score, or testing ideas in the rehearsal room, writers will have the freedom and resources to concentrate fully on their creative process. By investing in writers at this critical stage, the residency underscores LDK’s commitment to supporting new voices and cultivating the next generation of theatrical work while supporting artists telling stories that illuminate the human experience
Playwrights and composers interested in the LDK Writers’ Residency @ CAM Studios are invited to apply by email. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with four residencies awarded annually.
Please email your materials to: WritersResidency@
Your application should include:
Letter of Intent — a brief statement (1–2 pages) describing how you would ideally use your dedicated week of studio space, outlining your creative goals for the residency.
Project History — a short narrative of how the project began, where it currently stands, and why this residency would be valuable at this stage.
Team Bios — resumes or bios for the primary creative team members (playwright, composer, lyricist, or collaborators).
Script / Materials — the most current draft of your script (in PDF format).
Demos (if applicable) — links or files of demo recordings for musicals in development.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and selected writers will be contacted directly to arrange residency dates. Please note that the residency is intended to provide dedicated time and space for development, not for industry presentations or full readings.
